About

Not a millionaire: Nigel Hastilow with ‘The Trials of Eldred Pottinger’.
Nigel Hastilow is a journalist by trade. He was Editor of ‘The Birmingham Post’ in the 1990s and worked for the Wolverhampton ‘Express & Star’.

His last book was ‘Dead Groovy‘, about the scandals of the 1960s when spies roamed England, the Kray twins were king pins and The Beatles were losing millions thanks to a dreadful deal done by their lawyer David Jacobs.

Other recent novels include ‘The Man Who Invented The News’, the memoirs of Marchamont Nedham, the most notorious journalist of the 17th century – the Piers Morgan of the English Civil War – and ‘How To Become Prime Minister’, a short political satire (though some may say it has been overtaken by events).

Not to mention the historical novel pictured above, ‘The Trials of Eldred Pottinger’ about a victim of the First Afghan War.
